Over 40 Years Serving Western Australia
The words "Hello, Samaritans" were first spoken in Perth on July 23rd, 1967. In response to increasing service demands a branch was established at Albany in 1977 to assist in fulfilling the high volume of calls being received. Since then the Samaritans have taken over 620,000 calls through the Perth branch alone.
The Samaritans provide a 24 hour, non-religious, non-judgmental careline offering emotional support to the lonely, despairing and suicidal, or those at risk of becoming so.
"Thank you, I feel so much better after talking to you"
"Thank you for your time, the situation hasn't changed but I do feel calmer having talked about it"
"It feels so good just to have been able to talk to somebody about how I feel"
